About

ALN6-1

Born and raised on the East Coast, I grew up loving the beach and the ocean. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would relocate to the Southwest – and fall in love with the desert. I have been living in Arizona since 2002 with my husband, Don. We have two beautiful fur-babies, Mia and Faith. When I first visited Arizona, I expected what many people think about the desert – a dry, brown, desolate place. What a surprise it was to find that we have mountains scattered throughout the beautiful valley. Spring brings us gorgeous desert flora and fauna, but it’s the summers that bring the best weather – the monsoons. Monsoon season usually starts in July and storms break out at random times during the day. The skies will blacken and lightning provides a stunning backdrop. You can look out and see the cloud and rain as it moves across the valley. My favorite time though is at sunset – when the storm passes, the sky turns the most stunning shades of red, orange, yellow and purple. It reminds me of a watercolor painting. And as the sun dips down behind the mountains, the horizon is a mixture of those colors and the dark blue night sky. This is where my inspiration comes from for this blog.

By day I am a legal secretary for three attorneys. By night, my persona changes as I put on my skates and become “Nashty”, a blocker with the Arizona Derby Dames, an all-women banked track roller derby league. I have played sports most of my life, but roller derby has given me confidence and strength and best of all – another family.

This blog is a glimpse into my personal life – my love of fashion, sports, food and life. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy a peek into my little piece of the universe.
